HomeOur Story
family owned, owner run, Wembley local

A locally owned childcare centre in Wembley, run by the people who own it.

Debra Gibson and Natasha Carolan opened Poppy Patch Early Learning to bring a smaller, community focused approach to early childhood education in Wembley. Families know the educators, meet the owners and feel part of the service.

Why we opened

A neighbourhood centre, by choice.

Poppy Patch took over premises previously operated by a large childcare chain. As corporate operators and purpose built, double storey centres become more common, Debra and Natasha wanted to give families another choice: a smaller, locally owned service built around relationships and personalised care.

For Debra, who lives in Wembley and has children at a local school, the centre is a personal investment in her own community. Opening Poppy Patch is about more than reopening a building. It is a chance to create a neighbourhood childcare service where children are known, parents feel welcome and relationships sit at the heart of everyday care.

What small means for your family

Three things you notice when a centre is owner run.

Familiar faces

Continuity of educators is central to how we run. Children settle with people they know, and parents build trust with the same team over time.

Owners on hand

You can meet the people making decisions about the centre and share feedback with them directly.

Room for 50

A capacity of 50 children means each child's routines, interests and needs can be understood properly.
